About the Club

For over nine decades, a Red Deer Flying Club has been active and instrumental in promoting general aviation in Central Alberta. The first Red Deer Aero Club was formed in 1930 with the objective of establishing an airport in this community.

Today the Red Deer Flying Club continues that mission: to foster and promote general aviation across the Central Alberta region. We are affiliated with the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association as Flight 92.

You don't have to be a pilot or own an aircraft to join. We welcome aviation enthusiasts of all kinds — whether you're a student pilot, a seasoned ATP, or someone who simply loves the idea of flight.

Members enjoy access to club activities, fly-outs, the annual general meeting, guest speakers, and the camaraderie of a passionate aviation community.

Ram Falls Airstrip

The Ram Falls airstrip is a grass backcountry strip located within Ram Falls Provincial Park in the Alberta foothills, maintained and championed by club members. It offers a unique fly-in destination and a gateway to some of Central Alberta's most spectacular wilderness. Red Deer Flying Club is proud to be the custodians of this airstrip.

Bert Lougheed Aircraft Viewing Area

A public aircraft viewing area at the approach end of Runway 35 at the Red Deer Regional Airport is being developed to connect the community with aviation and honour the legacy of Bert Lougheed. Watch for opportunities to help develop this site this summer. Thanks to the Red Deer Airport for providing the space and support.
